Next Council Meeting Date Announced

The Council will hold its next regular meeting on Sunday 3rd June 2012.  On a trial basis only the meeting will be held using Skype.  Due to the limited numbers of persons who can dial in on each call, preference will be given to Full Council members and then Associate Council members.  Details of the discussions will be posted in the blogs section of the Council's social network.

 

Success For Council's First Comhairle Mor Gathering -  Aboyne Highland Games 6 August.

The Council's first Comhairle Mor AGM at the Aboyne Highland Games was a roaring success.

The AGM meeting took place during the morning of the games and the Council took centre stage by hosting a tent within the centre of the Clan area.   The Weather held up and the Council was able to communicate our message to members of the public.  More details on the Comhairle Mor meeting can be found in the blogs section and photos have been posted to this social network.

 

Scottish Government confirms 2014 As Scotland's Second 'Year of Homecoming'.

The Scottish Government have declared 2014 as Scotland's second year of homecoming.

The centrepiece of the year long celebrations will be the commemoration in Stirling to mark the 700th anniversary of the battle of Bannockburn.  In 1314 AD King Robert The Bruce's forces defeated King Edward II of England's army and the victory led the way for Scottish independence.  More information here

Scots Traditional Tartan Firm Saved From Closure

 

Traditional border tartan weavers DC Dalgliesh have been saved from closure due to their recent acquisition by internet based rivals Scotweb.

A Warm Welcome to Our New Associate Council Members

 

The Council would like to Welcome Alexander Cunningham and Gordon Casely as new Associate members of the Council.  Alexander is Secretary for the Clan Cunningham in Scotland and will act as depute member for the Clan's full Council member Robin Cunningham Graham of Gartmore.

Gordon is 'well kent' in heraldry circles around Scotland and overseas, in particular for his heraldic journalism.  He is also herald to David Irvine of Drum, the Chief of Clan Irvine. 

 

Aboyne Highland Gathering To Host Council's Summer Gathering - 6 August 2011 

 

The Committee of the Aboyne Games has kindly invited the Council to host our first Comhairle Mor (Great Council). This gathering will allow Clansfolk from our member clans to attend and become a part of the Council.  The Council intends to host its AGM during the weekend (6 Aug) and we intend host a dinner or similar event during the games weekend which Council members and Clansfolk of member Clans will be invited attend.  

More information on the summer gathering will be posted here as it is decided.  Those attending the gathering are advised to book accommodation early as the games weekend is expected to be extremely busy.  More information on the Aboyne Games can be found here  http://www.aboynegames.com

 

Lyon Recognises New Clan Wood Chief

Timothy Michael Herbert Fawcett Wood has successfully matriculated the undifferenced Arms and Supporters of Admiral Sir Andrew Wood of Largo at the Court of the Lord Lyon King of Arms. Accordingly, he is the hereditary Representative of the Ancient Family of Wood of Largo and Chief of the Name.

 

Lyon Confirms New Clan Grierson Chief

The Council is pleased to announce that Sarah Anne Grierson of Lag, has been confirmed as successor to her father, as Chief of the Name and Arms of Grierson.  The Council has been in correspondence with Lady Lag and her husband Richard and the Officers of Council have provided guidance on her succession as Chief.  Lady Lag has also recently been accepted as a member of the Standing Council of Scottish Chiefs.  More information can be found on the new official Clan Grierson web-site http://clangrierson.com/

Welcome to the social networking site of the Council of Scottish Armigerous Clans and Families. The Social networking site is open to everyone with an interest in the Council. Registration is simple and takes minutes.
